Every Sunday, a spellbinding French Cancan show takes over Le Boeuf sur le Toit.

An artists-in-residence program

Since its creation in 1922, the history of Le Bœuf sur le Toit has been closely intertwined with a circle of artists, musicians, poets, and painters who gathered there every week around Jean Cocteau, the owner at the time.

Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, Francis Picabia, Picasso, Erik Satie, and later Charles Trenet and Léo Ferré—these evenings gave rise to impromptu concerts and artistic performances, to the point that the expression “faire un bœuf” (to jam) was born within these very walls.

Paris in the Roaring Twenties

A setting that pays tribute to 1920s Paris, the décor of Le Bœuf sur le Toit its interiors reimagined by Alexis Mabille, a multidisciplinary designer of his time remains true to its original spirit, placing artists at the very heart of the house.

Each evening, a Music Hall awaits them with a program championed by some of the greatest names. But before the show, the table takes center stage. Le Bœuf sur le Toit brings the great classics of the Parisian brasserie back to life.

Décor by Alexis Mabille

Staying true to the spirit of Le Bœuf sur le Toit and this historic address, Alexis Mabille has envisioned a distinctive décor inspired by the restaurant’s most glorious years the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. A bold and flamboyant twist on Art Deco brings it seamlessly into the present day.

A place to live, a place to celebrate

With its graphic lines and mirrored accents, the restaurant blends the warmth of marquetry wood with gold-leaf bronzes. Le Bœuf sur le Toit is designed as an ever-evolving destination where you can spend the entire evening without ever leaving moving seamlessly from the restaurant to the bar, then on to the Music Hall, the cigar lounge, and the private salons.

Our cocktail menu is the result of a close collaboration with the iconic House of Hennessy. Our signature creations trace the 250-year history of the prestigious Cognac house.
